michelle’s journey
🪁
Michelle’s musical journey began in North Carolina, focusing on her Celtic roots (with a Scottish mother who was also her first music teacher, what other options would you have!?) After years of private lessons studying celtic and classical, Michelle was accepted into the prestigious Berklee College of Music. There she received a merit-based scholarship each year to continue her studies. she was introduced to people from all over the world with amazing stories, to all sorts of music from most continents, and fell in love with jazz. She started her jazz studies there and continued them at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Wales, United Kingdom. She performed throughout Wales, the most memorable being with her trio at Café Jazz. Michelle loves celtic and jazz music equally and loves creating unexpectedly hip arrangements of ancient celtic tunes, as well as experimenting with electronic music (using her electric delta harp, named luna - check it out!)
Since graduating with her Master’s degree in 2015, she has resided in Raleigh, North Carolina with her adorable pup, Francine (adopted in 2020). She enjoys her multi-faceted career as a musician by teaching private harp lessons, as an artist in residence at all duke hospitals, and performing for events (at places such as the only 5 star hotel in cary, the Umstead hotel, C. Grace, and Unscripted in Durham) throughout North Carolina, and creating online content.

I would recommend Michelle to anyone wanting an elegant addition to their upscale event or wedding! She played on and off for 3 hours at our fundraiser this past weekend and I couldn't have been more impressed. I spent a few minutes going through the program with her and she played through dinner and between speakers seamlessly, without any cues. Thank you Michelle!
